Does Any History Lies Behind This Town?
The literal meaning of the term “Yuksom” is “the meeting point of the three Lamas.” The first religious king of Sikkim was crowned in Yuksom by those 3 lamas who traveled from Tibet. This historic event took place in 1641 and the day was marked by building a stupa near a ceremonial ground.
